Gold Squad

Expectations

Gold Squad is available for those swimmers who have either progressed through Silver Squad or are able to perform the following:

  • Efficiently swim 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke and Front Crawl with good, competitive turns
  • Perform a streamline racing dive
  • Swim 50m Butterfly
  • Competently swim a 100m Individual Medley

How many sessions a week will my child be asked to swim?

Swimmers MUST regularly attend a minimum of 2 sessions per week. Each session lasts between 1 - 1.5 hours.

What is the age of swimmers at this level?

Typically, swimmers are aged between 9 and 13 years old.

What does my child have to do to move to the County Development Squad?

Moving up to the County Development Squad is ultimately up to the coach’s discretion. However, a swimmer must:

Regularly attend sessions

Demonstrate an eagerness to learn by listening to the coach’s instructions

Perform all strokes efficiently

Carry out regular competitive turns without prompting
