Expectations

Gold Squad is available for those swimmers who have either progressed through Silver Squad or are able to perform the following:

  • Swim 200m in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke with greater understanding of legal turns and underwater phases
  • Able to do a basic dive from the block

COMPETITIONS
Attend External Meets

Swimmers will be expected to attend external competitions. The Club's attendance will be dependent on a number of parental volunteers acting as Team Managers. This is a Swim England stipulation to ensure the health and wellbeing of the swimmers

How many sessions a week will my child be asked to swim?

Swimmers MUST regularly attend a minimum of 2 sessions per week.

What is the age of swimmers at this level?

Typically, swimmers are aged between 9 and 10 years old.

What does my child have to do to move to the County Development Squad?

Moving up to the County Development Squad is ultimately up to the coach’s discretion. However, a swimmer must:

Regularly attend sessions

Demonstrate an eagerness to learn by listening to the coach’s instructions

Perform all strokes efficiently

Carry out regular competitive turns without prompting
