Swimmers learn how to train as competitive swimmers.

Requirements

Swimmers must attend a trial and be able to swim 200m backstroke, breaststroke and front crawl and have a greater understanding of legal starts, turns and underwater phases. They must also be able to perform a basic dive from the block and will be expected to attend external competitions.

How many sessions a week will my child be asked to swim?

Swimmers MUST regularly attend a minimum of 2 sessions per week.

What is the age of swimmers at this level?

Typically, swimmers are aged between 9 and 10 years old.

What does my child have to do to move to the County Development Squad?

Moving up to the County Development Squad is ultimately up to the coach’s discretion. However, a swimmer must:

Regularly attend sessions

Demonstrate an eagerness to learn by listening to the coach’s instructions

Perform all strokes efficiently

Carry out regular competitive turns without prompting
